Psychology, Psychotherapy or Psychiatry?
It is a question many people wonder about when thinking about starting a process. A psychologist is a professional who is trained to work in different areas such as occupational, educational, social and clinical psychology among other areas. Some clinical psychologists offer services like psychotherapy here in Mexico. A psychologist, as well as other professionals within humanities and health sciences, can enter a master training program to become a psychotherapist.
A psychotherapist has more knowledge and experience working in the clinical field; besides, most educational programs require that the psychotherapist to be experiences his or her own therapeutic process as a patient.
To become a psychiatrist, it is necessary to go to medical school, and then get specialized in psychiatry. These professionals offer treatment based on medication most of the time.
Sometimes psychotherapy and psychiatry work along as a team to help people feel better and to adapt to new situations. People don't have to struggle alone through life.
